Thanks Lord, I need that.

So this has been a long week. The school schedule has been normal, lots to do with not a lot of time, adding on top this Scrooge schedule has drained me. I enjoy it but by Sunday I'm dragging my feet. I woke up feeling a bit sick, coughing and just plain exhausted. I sat on the couch debating "Should I not go to church today. I could use the rest? I don't why we think its okay to miss church if we're feeling tried or just don't feel like it. We justify it to ourselves someway and say God will forgive me. Well I got and got ready, because I knew I would benefit even if my body was fighting me.

Today at my church we had our Christmas Potluck. When we walked into the church I was so taken back. They had decorated the space with tables and decorations. All set up for a communal lunch. The centerpieces on the table were colorful and the walls had snowman decorations. The advent candle stood front in center. We walked in when worship had started so we got the whole picture of the beautiful decorated space with carols being sung. I couldn't help but smile.

The message was exactly what I needed. Pastor Grussi spoke about God's love. How God is love (1 John 4:8). That the love of God for you does not depend upon you. (1 John 4:9) The love of God for you has no beginning and will never run out. (Eph1:4,5) God's love never changes towards you. (John 13:1) The question then becomes, Will you receive the love of God? In order to receive it we need to yield to it. Do you trust God' s love for you? Do you trust God's love and grace in your life, believing  He will bring you through the other side?  It's amazing that God is reminding me and reassuring me about his love and grace and trusting that He is sufficient for me. Pastor also mentioned that if we want to grow in the love of God we must give love away. Die to ourselves, our selfishness, and think of others first. (Matt 16:24) A very timely message.

After service we all enjoy a wonderful potluck. A nice time of fellowship and feasting. They even had an area for kids to do crafts. It felt like a family celebration. It was a blessings and refreshing time.

Now off to Scrooge!

Thank you Lord for this morning. It was exactly what I needed.
