Maui Bound


Every year my cousins and I have our summer girl trip. We've gone to Santa Fe, Portland, Big Sur, San Diego and the like. It's a nice time to reconnect and enjoy being away together. This year we set our sights on an island, a Hawaiian island to be exact. Maui is the island of choice for this trip.

This will be my first time to Hawaii. I'm very excited! Everyone who comes back from their Hawaiian vacation say it is the most wonderful place in the world. The beautiful beaches, tropical weather, amazing sights and magically sunset and sunrises. I look forward to seeing all of it with my own eyes.

Five days of island paradise. Soaking in the culture and lifestyle of the island. No rushing. Not in a hurry to get anywhere. It's about enjoying the present moment.

Along with the culture I want to experience some local delicacy. Poi, poke, fresh seafood and fruits! One of the best ways to experience and appreciate a new place is to eat the food. I plan to do a lot of appreciating!

Obedience brings Victory. And Victory is Life

I'm a big Star Trek fan. I've enjoyed almost ever incarnation of this Sci-Fi giant. Recently my husband and I have been watching Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. One of the enemies for this particular series are the Jem'Hadar. These creatures are genetically engineered for battle and controlled through a drug called ketracel-white; which they require to function properly. Their mantra is "Obedience brings Victory. And Victory is Life." Every time they say this, I cringe. They are following orders from people who don't care for them and whose only goal is their own survival. I always felt it was such a terrible mantra. But today I had a revelation.  During today's sermon, my pastor was going over John 10, The Good Shepherd. One of his points was how do we ensure that we can hear our Good Shepherd's (Jesus) voice. We need to read His word, meditate in His word, memorize His word and obey  His word. Through obeying His word & voice we find life.

Heavenly Father (4/13/16)

Heavenly Father, Thank you for your wonderful love, grace and mercy. You have been my constant, my rock and my refugee. You have guided my path into directions I never would have thought to go. Lord, recently I have been questioning my desire to continue in the path I find myself. Is this restlessness from you? Is it God given? Do you have another path you want me to take? Father I ask for insight. Lord guide me. Father light the path you want me to take. Show me without a shadow of a doubt the directions/steps to take. Father, I rebuke any unnecessary fear that I may feel in whatever you ask me to do. If this fear is coming from the enemy, erase it and feel it withe courage and faith. Guard my heart and mind, Lord. Lord, I'm also asking for a miracle. Scott and I, for 10 years now, have this desire to have children. Lord bless us with a child. I'm being pushy now, Bless us with children!
