Day 4- Beach Hopping
We decided that on our last full day we should relax and go beach hopping. When we found one that suited us we would stay and enjoy. We drove to the south part of Maui and started with Big Beach.
Big Beach was beautiful. Clear waters, white sands and a view that is breath taking. The water was a crisp turquoise. The foam a bright white. As the waves crashes on the shore you could hear the power of the water. It was the beach that you see in the calendars. We were so excited to step into these gorgeous waters! The second we step in we felt the strength of the current. It pulled you in with fore and pushed you out with twice the force. We wipeout several times. The waves were too strong. We decided after 5 minutes that this wasn't the right beach for us. It was beautiful but the waters are for more advanced swimmers. We found out later from my cousin's friend (the one who took us up the volcano) that Big beach is a "chill" beach. It's too hard to swim in but if you just want to chill or BBQ that's the place.
Our next stop was Black Sand Beach.
We didn't get a chance to get in. There was no parking so we "parked" on the side of the road to take a quick look. It was amazing to see the black sand! The view was just as beautiful as the last beach.
Our third stop was Maluaka Beach. So far we where 0-2 on finding the right beach. We had high hopes for this one. This beach didn't disappoint. The sparkling waters were cool and refreshing. It's amazing how quickly you acclimate to the water. We spent about an hour in the water. The waves where a lot calmer than Big Beach but they could still pack a punch. It was a great time! Goldilocks had found her just right beach.
We ended the day taking in the sunset. We had seen it from the view above the clouds on the volcano but hadn't seen one from the ocean. While enjoying dinner on the balcony of our condo we said aloha to last sunset we would see in Maui. As the sun settled under the clouds the sky looked like heaven. The suns rays shot out of the clouds appearing as God looking down from heaven. It was a sight to see!
I feel blessed to have had this experience! A wonderful last day in Maui!
