Cheers To The Niners

It's been a few days since the Niners lost the NFC Championship but I'm still thinking about it. It was a sad lose but it was a great year. It was so amazing to see a team that had been struggling for many years and come back to regain their glory. In other words the Empire Strikes Back. No one had thought that they would have been one game away from the Superbowl. It was an exciting game and it was a memorable season.

I knew that days after the lose some people would be pointing blame and being very angry and mean. I also knew who their target was going to be, #10 Kyle Williams. I figured that Alex Smith was going to receive some criticism because he's the quarterback and it comes with the territory, but he did make mistakes during the second half of the game. Right know I want to concentrate on Kyle Williams.

He was involved in 2 specific errors that cause the only 2 turnovers in the game. The first one was from a punt return that he got to close too and it ending up hitting his knee which made it a live ball. Live enough that the Giants could scoop it up and be ten yards away from their end zone. The second was in overtime during a punt return when the ball was stripped from his hands. In my opinion Williams made a couple of errors that could have happened to anyone and has. The time of these events where unfortunate because they were game changers, especially the 2nd one, it allowed the Giants to kick the winning field goal and end the game, sudden death.

Sudden death. I have a bone to pick with sudden death for a minute. I think that rule is uber dumb. How fair is it that you have 15 mins to play yet the first team to score wins. Now that rule in the Championship game was a little different, but generally speaking I think the rule is unfair. It doesn't even allow the other team to have a fair shot. They should allow them to play the full 15mins and whoever has the highest score wins. If they're still tied then go for a 10 min game, and then go into field goal kicks. Yes I know its sounds a little bit like soccer but to me it makes sense.

But I digress, back to Kyle Williams. So the days after as I predicted fans and critics pointed the blame and put the loss on Williams' shoulders. It was a normal reaction I suppose.  However I was appalled by a certain few who went onto his twitter page and sent death threats to him and his family. Who does that?! Some really crazy people live in this world and Williams had a bull-eyes on his back. He made a few mistakes, he admitted that. He took responsibility for it and didn't point the blame anywhere else. I think he should be encouraged not threaten.

Apart from the madness of the last game it was great to see the city get together rooting for the home team.  They've form a strong foundation and only good things can come from it. Superbowl XLVII
will be ours for the taking!

Thank you 49ers for a great season!
